From the recording On The Other Side Of The World

This song is an example of one type of some of my current songwriting which borrows influences from jazz and fuses them with contemporary folk. This song is co-written...Maria Borges and Carl Rubino, Songwriters. Maria wrote most of the lyrics and sent them to me to develop music for the song, and to join in editing and adding to the lyrics. Without the lyrics Maria sent me initially, which to me conjured up a vision of someone in a cafe in Paris missing their lover on the other side of the world...I thought it begged for music that had a smokey bar, old jazz feel - something I had never composed or written before...And now, musically, that has influenced some of my recent songwriting.
